WSR 3.5 – Davide Rigon with BVM-Target at Paul Ricard

rigon.jpg'These are exciting days for Davide Rigon. After experiencing the rookie test at Magny-Cours behind the wheel of the Ferrari F2012 and running the 5th race of the Blancpain Endurance Series at the wheel of the Ferrari 458, It’s time for the talented Italian driver to race back behind the wheel of a single-seater car in an official competition.

At the stage of the second last race of World Series by Renault 3.5, which will take place at the French circuit named Paul Ricard, the BVM-Target team has decided to entrust the young driver the task of driving the Dallara. It will be a hard work for Davide, as the race will mark his debut into the Series.
Rigon will have very little time to discover all the secrets of the Italian car powered by a 530 HP V8 engine and to adapt himself to the racing weekend, consisting of two races and two qualifying sessions. It will be also hard to find the right feeling with the team to chase after a good result, as the drivers he will have to compete with, have almost raced a full season.
More than 700 km run behind the wheel of a car “made in Maranello” on the French track of Magny-Cours, showed all his good physical shape and pointed out that the terrible accident occurred in Turkey is only a far memory.
Davide Rigon:It’s a pleasure to receive such an unexpected call. I’m so pleased to race in a single-seater car again. As shown at Magny-Cours, the accident occurred in Istanbul is only a far memory. I will have to work hard and I’ll have very little time to do that, but I’ve always liked challenges. It will be so important to have a good start and quickly discover all the secrets of the car. I’d like to thank the BVM-Target team for thinking of me and I hope to pay them off with a good result.”
Giovanni Minardi (manager):I’m really happy about this unexpected chance. The challenge at Paul Ricard is another milestone, as it represents Davide’ s official return into an open-wheel competition. It will be an interesting experience and he will face different challenges: drive an unknown car, work with an unknown team and compete with drivers who have almost raced a whole season. The Magny-Cours test showed he’s in a really good shape and brought out that the car accident occurred in Istanbul is only a far memory. I’m sure he won’t let us down and will help the team doing his best. I would like to thank the BVM-Target team for thinking of us and Davide.
