THE 7TH EDITION OF THE HISTORIC MINARDI DAY CELEBRATES THE CENTENARY OF THE SAVIO CIRCUIT WITH UNIQUE PIECES. TICKETS ON SALE ON TICKETONE

Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 August the Passion on the Track will come back to Imola’s Enzo and Dino Ferrari International Circuit on the occasion of the 7th edition of the Historic Minardi Day.

The intense programme of the event conceived by the Minardi family, in collaboration with Formula Imola, in addition to warming the hearts of fans, will have fantastic Formula 1, F2, F3, F3000, GP2, historic GTs, Prototypes, supercars and hypercars taking to the track (there are fifteen rounds each day) to tackle the 19 bends along the 4,909 metres of the track. The event is also enhanced by the ACI Storico (historic) Festival which celebrates the “100 anni del Circuito del Savio” (100 years of the Savio Circuit). It was June 17, 1923, and Enzo Ferrari at the wheel of the Alfa Romeo RL Targa Florio number 28 won the first Savio Circuit.

Sunday August 27, on the occasion of the centenary of the Circuit of the Savio, the not to be missed Raduno Terre di Romagna “100 ANNI DEL CIRCUITO DEL SAVIO” (Lands of the Romagna Gathering, “100 years of the Savio Circuit”) will return. A day entirely dedicated to passion, culture, and the territory. Starting from the Imola Circuit, the convoy will wind through the countryside of the Romagna, passing through Lugo and Ravenna, also running through a stretch of the original circuit. In the afternoon, starting from the Basilica di Sant’Apollinare in Classe, the convoy will return to the track with the parade of the closing of the event (Info and registration https://minardiday.it/raduno-terrediromagna/)   To celebrate the “100 years of the Savio Circuit” the Motor Valley Showroom in the Checco Costa Museum at Imola’s Enzo and Dino Ferrari Circuit reopened to the public on July 28 with the “100 Anni di Passione automobilistica in Romagna” (100 years of automotive passion in the Romagna) exhibition.

Through the display of vintage cars and digital photos the exhibition tells the story of the passion for Motorsport in a territory, the Romagna, which still burns intensely today, and recalls the protagonists and the most significant automotive events of the last one hundred years of history.

On display there will be, amongst other things, cars from 1923 to1927 which were the protagonists of the editions of the “Savio Circuit”, together with some iconic cars which made Formula 1 history with the presence of an area dedicated to Alpha Tauri, all enriched by digital images projected onto the screens which show the evolution of the Imola track. Thanks to the close collaboration and friendly relations with the Historic Minardi Day, the Scuderia Tazio Nuvolari has made available for display unique pieces of the calibre of: a 1922 Itala 51 Sport, a 1924 Lancia Lambda Sport Torpedo and the 1927 Bugatti T37. These cars are “sisters” which participated in various editions of the Savio Circuit. The collector and driver Venanzio Fonte has made available to visitors the extraordinary Alfa Romeo RL Targa Florio of 1924 looked after by the Bonfanti Garage, “sister” of the Alfa Romeo RL Targa Florio number 28 with which the young Enzo Ferrari won the first edition of the Savio Circuit one hundred years ago. From the Pierluigi Martini collection, there are the 6 wheeled Tyrrel P34 and the Ferrari 126 C4 driven by Michele Alboreto.

As a testimony to modern Formula 1, and of the continuity of international competitions in the territory with the return of the Imola track to the F1 World Championship, Alpha Tauri celebrates the anniversary with the STR05 (protagonist of the 2010 World Championship with Sebastian Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari) and the Alpha Tauri with the 1922 livery.

Furthermore, in the Museum Shop it will be possible to buy the celebratory book “Imola, il romanzo dell’autodromo” (Imola, the novel of the circuit) by Pino Allievi which is part of the “machina” (car) series of FormulaPassion.it, edited by Mauro Coppini, with the coordination of Antonio Azzano, created to celebrate the 70 years of the Enzo and Dino Ferrari International Circuit.

The exhibition will be open to the public until Sunday 10th September. During the Historic Minardi Day entry will be included with the event’s ticket, which can already be bought on TicketOne (https://www.ticketone.it/artist/historic-minardi-day/) and at the authorized TicketOne points of sale. A single ticket to also have access to the most exclusive areas of the facility to experience the event as a protagonist.

[Breaking News] Reprogramming Historic Minardi Day

Dear Friends,

We have been working hard to to be able to put on an edition of the Historic Minardi Day this year which will be even more exciting and involving in every detail. The organizers of the Minardi Day are ready, even in smart working mode in order to conform with the directions of the Italian Government Decree concerning the Coronavirus.

Despite this we have a duty to consider the COVID-19 emergency with the utmost seriousness.

For this reason we have decided to identify new dates for the Minardi Day which can give You and all of us the peace of mind to be able to put together an event in conditions of the highest safety, happiness, passion and sharing.

The reprogramming of the new date will occur and be notified as soon as possible and you can be sure that it will offer an effective and excellent solution for the running of the Historic Minardi Day.

Therefore, this year we will have once more three fantastic days at Imola’s Enzo and Dino Ferrari Circuit where we will and must celebrate the restart of activities and the relaunching of our Country.

Historic Minardi Day 2020 in pursuit of Formula 1, the ACI Storico Festival and the Elegance Competition

The organizational machine of the Historic Minardi Day is already working at full speed to prepare the 5th edition which, as per tradition, will have as its home Imola’s Enzo and Dino Ferrari Circuit which will open the gates from Friday April 24, 2020.

There are many confirmations but there will be many new attractions, as Gian Carlo Minardi unveiled at the ACI Stand at the Padua Festival.

“The fact that we extended the event by one day is already a major development. Next year the engines of the Formula 1 and all the extraordinary cars that will come to Imola will be turned on starting from the Friday and they will only be turned off on Sunday April 26th,” said Gian Carlo Minardi.

“The other great development is represented by the participation of ACI Storico which will be our main partner through the ACI Storico Festival (ACI Historic Festival), a get together for all the ACI clubs in Imola. There will be no lack of occasions for meetings and conventions in a setting of fantastic cars and great enthusiasts. We must not forget that many historical races belong to ACI and that for some years it has started up many activities including Ruoti Nella Storia (History in wheels) in Italy’s most beautiful towns” in Italy’s,” continued the manager from Faenza.

“The fifth edition of the Historic Minardi Day will also be the stage for the first elegance competition dedicated to historical cars. Staying in the field of history, the “Savio Trophy” has been confirmed, as well as the non competitive outing in the hills of the Romagna.”

Amongst the new developments there will many confirmations. “The DNA of the event remains solid. The single ticket(which can be bought at the circuit-Ticketone) willgive access to the Circuit’s paddock, pits and terrace to be in direct touch with the racing cars and their protagonists. Last year we hosted 32 F1 racing cars for a trip through more than half a century of history to which were added many F2, F3, F Junior, Prototypes, Gran Turismo and Lancia Martini Racing which gave life to an extraordinary spectacle that recalled an exciting sound. In addition, many enthusiasts had the chance to experience the excitement of a lap of the Santerno Circuit aboard a Supercar of the calibre of the Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio, Renault Alpine, Dallara Stradale, Lamborghini and Pagani.

“Our objective is to bring back to the Circuit the atmosphere of the paddock in the early years of Formula 1 be eliminating the barriers that risk keeping fans away. With the chance to give you an appointment for April I want to thank the more than 15,000 passionate fans that that literally invaded the paddock and the pits,” concluded Gian Carlo Minardi.

They have the pleasure of being able to run more around the track and so we decided to make them happy by also adding the Friday. Therefore we await all the enthusiasts and fans from Friday April 24 to Sunday April 26″

Great success of the fourth edition of the Historic Minardi Day. More than 15,000 present over the two days. Patrese on the track

There was a sea of people at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari International Circuit, the stage of the fourth edition of the Historic Minardi Day that over the two days set a new crowd record.

In fact, over the two days more than 15,000 people the fans invaded the Santerno circuit’s pit lane and the pits for a trip over more than half a century of motorsport and Formula 1 history amongst 32 F1 racing cars, cars from F2, F3, Prototypes, Gran Turismo, Pagani and Lancia Martini Racing who also experienced the thrill of a lap aboard a Supercars such as Lamborghini, Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Giulia Quadrifoglio, Alpine and the Dallara Stradale of Andrea Levy, the President of the Parco Valentino Auto Salon scheduled for June 19th to 23rd in Turin.

There were many moments that will remain rooted in the history of the motor show event designed by Gian Carlo Minardi and brought to the track together with Formula Imola. These began with the exhibition of the cars that were protagonists of the F1 World Championship with an exceptional participant: Riccardo Patrese who went back at the wheel of the Renault powered Williams FW-14 with which the champion from Padua won successive grands prix in Mexico and Portugal together with 8 podium finishes, 4 pole positions and two fastest laps that earned him third place in the World Championship.
“

“It was an incredible feeling getting back behind the wheel of the car that gave me incredible results, one of which was the front row of the grid beside Ayrton Senna right here in Imola in the 1991 grand prix. The warmth of the fans was wonderful and I must congratulate Gian Carlo Minardi for having given life to this perfectly successful event with incredible machines. These events are even more beautiful than an F1 grand prix because they give all the fans the chance to come in touch with the cars and drivers, commented a satisfied Riccardo Patrese.

Many guests visited Imola with the warm participation of Roland Ratzenberger’s father and the notable participation of the F1 Grand Prix Drivers Club that was on centre stage in the Ayrton Senna conference room in which indelible episodes of motorsport history were remembered, together with the 1992 world vice champion, Emanuele Pirro, Alessandro Nannini, Pierluigi Martini, Luca Badoer, Fabrizio Barbazza, Moreno Roberto, Andrea Montermini, Luis Perez Sala, Paolo Barilla, Gabriele Tredozi former Technical Director for Team Minardi, Mauro Forghieri, Alex Caffi, Giovanni Lavaggi, Carlo Facetti, Gabriele Lancieri, Claudio and Gianni Giudice Angelo Ancherani, kart driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Francesco Bergomi, Roberto Del Castello, Farneti Roberto, Giorgio Francia, Bruno Giacomelli, Roberto Marazzi, Mauro Martini, Nicolò Piancastelli, Andrea Rosso, Enrico Toccacelo, Howden Ganley, Mario Theissen, Richard Attwood, Daniele Audetto, Derek Daly, Gery Brandstetter, Graham Gauld, Hans Herrmann, Teddy Pilette, David Piper, Jo Ramirez, Axel Schmidt, Marc Surer, Patrick Tambay, Jo Vonlanthen and Mike Wilds.

Pierluigi Martini, the driver who was the symbol of the team from Faenza with 109 grands prix raced with Minardi, took to the wheel of the Minardi M189, while Gabriele Tredozi, Minardi’s ex-Technical Director, drove the PS04 Cosworth. Alex Caffi performed with the Ensign N176, the racing car with which he won the 2016 Monaco Grand Prix Historique, twenty five years after retiring from the grands prix.

The Libreria dell’Automobile (Automobile Bookshop) was also successful with the public reaching its second edition with the presentation of extraordinary books by Pino Allievi, Mario Donnini, Paola Rivolta andUmberto Zapelloni, (Giorgio Nada Editore, publisher). After the Saturday that was marked by a splendid spring day, light rain was again seen in Imola this year but it did not dampen the warmth of the protagonists and the fans.

The Easyrain Project raised a lot of interest thanks to its patented anti-aquaplaning that drew the attention of the Motorsport World as already happened in the automotive world.

As per the tradition, the two days in Imola ended with the historic cars that were the protagonists of the Savio Circuit Trophy, the gara di regolarità classica event that was valid for the ACI Storico National Regolarità Trophy and Scuderia Nettuno’s Criterium dell’Appennino.

Gian Carlo Minardi “”A very important and surely positive edition closes and it rewarded us for the work done. We are growing step by step and we will continue working to improve the event. I must congratulate all the fans because it is not easy to find a polite public that respects the spaces and is aware they are walking in the presence of fantastic cars. It was great to see Riccardo Patrese at the wheel of the Williams. He got back into the game with the best times.

Uberto Selvatico Estense (President of Formula Imola): “It was a fantastic edition …with a great number of fans who invaded the Circuit’s paddock to see real four-wheeled treasures that made wrote the history of motorsport competitions driven by true giants of motorsport. The passion that is gradually consolidating a classic round of the international panorama of motoring events destined for a public of fans leads us to continue investing in this direction beside Gian Carlo Minardi and his team with an eye to the future with the intention of implementing the emotions on offer to those who come to visit our magnificent circuit. Stay tuned.

It was wonderful to find once more those sounds, those smells.

I will come to the Minardi Day with my cars. With Gian Carlo there is esteem and friendship. When I spoke with him about the setting of this fantastic track I asked him “Why don’t you bring a few F1 cars to the city centre at the Parco Valentino in Turin , in Via Roma? For which, let us take to the track, which is right where the cars must be and then we will go to the city centre for a parade.

Historic Minardi Day | Is waiting for you at Imola on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April

The Historic Minardi Day, the festival created by Gian Caro Minardi and brought on track together with Formula Imola that knew how to rewrite the rules for sporting events by putting fans in the spotlight is coming back.

On Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April at Imola’s Enzo and Dino Ferrari Circuit the Formula 1 cars that wrote the most important pages of the World Championship will come back onto the track for a journey into the history of International Motorsport together with racing cars from preparatory championships that shaped world champions and with a lot of space for prototypes, Gran Turismo cars and Supercars. In the 2018 edition six Pagani cars warmed the hearts of enthusiasts with a unique parade on the track led by its founder Horacio Pagani, as well as the debut of the Dallara Stradale with a number of hot laps together with the Lamborghinis, Maseratis and Alfa Romeos.

After the success of the previous editions the formula did not change with a single ticket (that can be bought at the circuit’s ticket office or via Ticketone) that will give access to the paddock, the terrace and the pits to see up close the racing cars, the drivers, engineers and the technicians at work on the vehicles as they make them ready to warm up the motors to take to the track. In addition, the ticket will let participants become an essential part of the festival by taking to the track in their own vehicles through Driving Experience (4 sessions on the Saturday and 4 sessions on the Sunday by filling in the form available on the official website), or to take to the track for a lap on board a sports car beside a professional driver and the test themselves on the simulators in the gaming area.

Last year we managed to cover nearly half a century of sporting competitions through 299 fantastic vehicles from collections around the world, of which 26 from F1, one of which was Pier Luigi Martini’s Tyrrell P34 on its debut together with many Minardis, Ferraris Tecnos, Fondmetals, Dallaras, Fittipaldis, Theodores, Marches and the Cooper T51 only to name a few. There were 110 racing cars from F2 and F3, 2012 GT and GTS cars, 42 vintage cars from the Wheels of history rally and 19 from the Savio Trophy. This year we expect 30 Formula 1 cars with a priceless tribute to Ayrton Senna 25 years after his death and the arrival of some LMP3s,” commented Gian Carlo Minardi who highlighted the strength of the Historic Minardi Day,

I wanted to bring back to Imola the atmosphere of my first years in F1 with the paddock and the pits open to the fans. All this was lost with the arrival of the computerized passes and today we have an F1 locked up behind the motor homes. We found a polite and passionate public and those who worked on the cars were excited by this formula because they too are overwhelmed by the festive atmosphere,” continued the manager from Faenza.

This year’s edition of the Historic Minardi Day will again be enhanced by the Gara di Regolarità Classica “Savio Trophy” that is valid for the National “ACI Storico” Regolarità National Trophy and the Criterion of the Apennines of the Scuderia Nettuno group. The route will start from Imola’s Enzo and Dino Ferrari Circuit and will wind its way through the province of Ravenna and follow part of the Savio Circuit that saw Enzo Ferrari win the 1923 edition as a driver. The route will pass through the hills of the Romagna and their wonderful towns, with the race concluding inside the Imola circuit.
