Super Trofeo | Pole position and win at Nurburgring for Karol Basz who increased his championship lead

In the fifth round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europa at Nurburgring Karol Basz, together with Vito Postiglione, in the Imperiale Racing Huracan number 44 drove the (nearly) perfect weekend with pole position, a win in race-1 and second place in race-2 and setting the fastest lap.

Only the win in race-2 was lacking but on his debut on the German track Basz confirmed that he is the top driver in the single make category by closing the weekend run constantly on the charge, without making the slightest error and achieving the objective of increasing the lead in the championship. The Italian-Polish pair drew up to the starting line with a lead of four points over its direct rivals and will go to the Vallelunga track on November 15 an 18 with a ten point lead.

During his qualifying round the Polish driver followed by Minardi Management set an important pole position confirming that he had reached an excellent feeling for the track. In race-1 Basz took part in the second part of the race and completed the comeback that his team mate had already begun by crossing the finish line with a lead of nearly 12 seconds over their direct rival and so scoring the fourth win of the season.

Karol made the perfect start to race-2, keeping pole position and dictating a rhythm that started a great tussle with Zampieri run on the edge of tenths of seconds and he returned to the pits as race leader.

“I am very happy because we managed to increase our lead in the championship by taking pole position, the won and second place. I liked Nurburgring from the first lap and this is seen in the results on the track. I am very happy with how I drove in all the sessions and I really look forward to the final round at Vallelunga to be able to race for the title,” commented Karol Basz.

“We say goodbye to Nurburgring with another win and pole position and a lead in the championship that grew to ten points. Karol was very fast during all the weekend and practically perfect in every situation. In qualifying he just missed out on the perfect lap but took pole position anyway. In the two races he was one of the fastest and even set the fastest time in race-2 with an impressive stint. Now we will prepare for the final round at Vallelunga where we will go onto the track with the aim of winning both the European and World titles,” commented managers Giovanni Minardi and Alberto Tonti.

Karol will fly to Kristianstad in Sweden to take part in the Karting World Championship to defend the Kosmic Racing colours to try and repeat the 2015 title won on the Muro Leccese track.

Super Trofeo | Karol Basz and Vito Postiglione at Nurburgring to consolidate the leadership

With the end of the summer break the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europa will this weekend switch on the motors once more for the fifth round and Karol Basz, together with team mate Vito Postiglione, will step up to the starting line at Nurburgring at the top of the ladder, a place earned on Spa-Francorchamps’ selective circuit.

The Polish driver followed by Minardi Management will take to the wheel of the Imperiale Racing “Lambo” Huracan number 44 to go on the prowl for this season’s fourth win on a very technical track on which qualifying will have a very important role since overtaking will not be so easy due to the many curves at low and medium speed and the lack of significant straights.

Nurbugring will be another new track for me, but I hope that after intensive preparation on the simulator I will be able to find it quickly. We are at the forefront of the table, despite the fact that a lot has happened during the previous races, so I hope that in Germany we will strengthen our lead” commented Karol Basz

After the summer break Karol will go back on to the trail of the Super Trofeo in the lead together with Vito. At Nurburgring we will again try to achieve the best results in order to confirm our place at the top and we also hope for a touch of luck that has certainly been missing in the previous rounds. In the week of the break Karol continued his athletic training and studied the circuit on the simulator with his usual doggedness. We want to thank the Imperiale Racing team that continues to support us by giving us the chance to fight it out for the title,” commented managers Giovanni Minardi and Alberto Tonti.

This weekend will begin with the two free practice sessions programmed for Friday 14th at 11.30am and 4.20pm in preparation for the qualifying rounds on Saturday at 10.35am that will decide the starting grid for Race-1 (Saturday at 3.40pm) and Race-2 (Sunday at 1.00pm). Both the rounds will be streamed live the Official Facebook Lamborghini Squadra Corse Page https://www.facebook.com/LamborghiniSquadraCorse/

After Germany Karol will fly to Sweden, destination Kristianstad, to participate at the Karting World Championship to defend the colours of Kosmic Racing to try and repeat his 2015 success on the Muro Leccese circuit.

Super Trofeo | Podium and leadership for Karol Basz and Vito Postiglione at Spa-Francorchamps

At the fascinating circuit of Spa-Francorchamps, the stage for the fourth round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europa, Karol Basz paired with Vito Postiglione at the wheel of Imperiale Racing’s “Lambo” Huracan number 44 won the Championship’s leadership thanks to the third  places achieved in the two races on Friday and Saturday. Race-2 was interrupted for a few minutes by the chequered flag due to a terrible accident between the front two drivers,

Due to the conjunction with the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps the whole programme was brought forward by one day and in Thursday’s free practice Minardi Management’s driver set the best position subsequently closing his qualifying round with the sixth time without committing any errors and gaining confidence with the Eau Rouge and the many pitfalls of the Ardennes track.

In race-1 Vito Postiglione started in pole position but at the first curve collided and fell back to 23rd position. Luckily the car had no major damage from the impact which allowed Postiglione to recover a number of positions before handing over the wheel to Basz who, at the end of the pit stop re-entered the track in ninth place. The Polish driver took advantage of the restart after the exit of the safety car and became the protagonist of an incredible last lap overtaking four cars before finishing the race in fifth place. After the penalty inflicted on Altoè/Zampieri, Karol climbed up to fourth place (third in the class).

A few minutes after the start of the race-2 it began to rain on the circuit and the race director decided for a start behind the safety car which exited after 8’, in his 50 minutes of the race Karol Basz was able to retain his position holding back the charges by his rivals without making any mistakes before handing the car over to his team-mate who went on to the finish line in third place, confirming the excellent feeling for the track. The race was interrupted a few minutes from the chequered flag because of a terrible accident that involved the front two drivers with the race director freezing the ladder at the previous lap.

“We say goodbye to Spa-Francorchamps, as incredible track, with a lot of points and the championship lead. Today’s was a crazy race. We decided to keep the slicks despite the wet track because we knew that ot would have dried quickly. Then Vito was very fast. It was a pity about the accident at the end that took away the chance to battle it out for the win. It was not an easy weekend but it was very positive. Now we go to Nurburgring as leaders” commented Karol Basz.

“Karol was the protagonist was a positive weekend run on a very demanding track that ended with solid and important results that delivered the championship lead. In the three days he worked hard to constantly improve since it his debut at Spa, one of the most selective tracks in international Motorsport. Sadly race-1 was conditioned by a touch at the first curve which took away the win, while in race-2 both drivers were perfect despite the tricky asphalt that continued to change. “We are very happy with Karol’s path that, on his debut and after only four rounds, went to the top of the championship. With the help of our sponsors and the Imperiale team we hope to reach the end of the season,” commented managers Giovanni Minardi and Alberto Tonti.

Super Trofeo | Karol Basz is on the prowl for the fourth win at the kingdom of Spa-Francorchamps

This weekend Karol Basz will make his debut at Spa-Francorchamps for the fourth round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europa. The 26 year old driver from Krakow, together with Vito Postiglione, at the wheel of Imperiale Racing’s “Lambo” Huracan number 44 will be on the prowl for the fourth win in just as many appointments to continue the climb up the ladder where he now in second place.

Up to now the path has been impeccable by Minardi Management’s flag bearer event if there is still the regret for some unfortunate episodes that denied the deserved double win at Misano (due to a puncture) and at Silverstone due to a problem with the door handle during race-2’s pit stop. These episodes do not affect the value of a driver who has become part of the Lamborghini Programme and who experienced the first session at Vallelunga with an intense programme of athletic preparation and lessons in classroom.

Given the concurrence with the 24 Hours also in programme on the same track in the Ardennes, the whole programme has been brought forward by a day with two rounds of free practice on Thursday 26 at 10.35am and 2.55pm in preparation for the qualifying session on Friday 27 at 9.50am and Race-1 at 1.50pm. The fourth Racing Weekend will draw to a close on Saturday 28 with race-2 at 10.25am. Both heats will be transmitted live on the Lamborghini Racing Team Official Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/LamborghiniSquadraCorse/

Spa will be another new track for me, but I am looking forward to this weekend. It will be interesting to see how level differences will affect driving sensations and whether they will coincide with the simulator. Last year my team was really strong here, so I hope that this season we will maintain this trend and we will fight Vito for a set of points” – said Karol.

We are sure that at Spa-Francorchamps Karol will once again be able to fight it out for the top positions. In the previous editions Team Imperiale and Vito Postiglione were always very quick and this gives us hope. At this time Karol is more determined than ever, thanks also to the excellent and intense work of athletic preparation that intensified during the Lamborghini Academy session at the Vallelunga track,” commented managers Giovanni Minardi and Alberto Tonti.

Super Trofeo, Three from three for Karol Basz who made his mark at Misano with Vito Postiglione

For the third straight week Karol Basz made his mark on the Super Trofeo Lamborghini together with Vito Postiglione. After Monza and Silverstone the Polish driver also scored a win on the Misano track in a race than ended the third of the six rounds of the single make championship dedicated to the carmaker from Sant’Agata Bolognese.

In his turn in qualifying at the wheel of Imperiale Racing’s number 44 Lamborghini Huracan Evo the driver followed by Minardi Management claimed the front row on the strength of the second best time and confirmed the position after race-2 before handing the car over to his Italian team mate who, with a spectacular move on his direct rival Daniel Zamperi, took command of the race and maintained the position until the end.

The win, which ended the third round, cancelled some of the disappointment of the retirement in the opening phase of the nocturnal race on Saturday which was caused by a puncture that did not even give Karol Basz the time to climb into the cockpit for his part of the race.

“The race was tight up to the final curve. Zampieri is certainly not an easy driver to deal with and Vito was very good overtaking him and also fast on the track. I was very happy with my stint because, in addition to not making any errors, I confirmed my place. The team did a great job and we showed once more that we have our papers in order for playing for the title. I am very happy with my work at Misano even if the disappointment for Saturday’s retirement hurt. We would have made a fantastic double which still escapes us. Even in qualifying we confirmed that we are amongst the fastest drivers,” commented Karol Basz.

“The third race and the third win, we are only 66% happy since after the two front rows in qualifying and the win, the first double escaped us, this time because of a puncture during the night race We showed that we have a pair of very strong drivers and because of this we are ready to take our revenge at Spa-Francorchamps. We will continue to fight for the objective that we made our priority, winning the European Championship. For this very reason we will concentrate all our forces with the Imperiale Team and interrupt the American adventure. It was a positive experience and we thank Jonathon Summerton and all the P2 Motorsport staff for having given Karol the chance to have his first contact with America,” commented Giovanni Minardi and Alberto Tonti.

With the win in race-2 the Italian-Polish team sits in second place on the ladder. The next round will be on July 27-28 at the Spa-Francorchamps track.

Super Trofeo | Karol Basz dictates also at Silverstone together with Vito Postiglione

After the win in the opening round at the Temple of Speed, Karol Basz, at the wheel of Imperiale Racing’s Lamborghini Huracan Evo number 44 together with Vito Postiglione, dictated at the historic Silverstone Circuit as well, in the second round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europa.

Despite being on his debut at the demanding British track, the Polish driver followed by Minardi Management adapted quickly to the pitfalls of the track taking top positions beginning in free practice and worked together with his teammate on the setup of the car without neglecting performance, as shown by the second place in the first round which ended only 45 thousandths of a second behind the best time.

The hard work carried out on Friday was repaid during the qualifying session when Karol Basz gained the second row of the grid on the strength of the fourth fastest time, repeating his teammate’s performance, before going on to take a strong win in Saturday’s race with a perfect performance.

The intense weekend closed with important points in view of the championship with fourth place in race-2 which left regrets at having let a win slip which would have made the weekend unforgettable and perfect. Taking off from fourth Place Karol Basz had taken control of the race on the strength of a hard rhythm which the direct rivals could not match but, at the change of drivers a technical problem with the door handle cost seconds and victory.

“After the win at Monza we managed to win here at Silverstone as well and this is surely very important for the continuation of the season, even if we are left with the regret caused by the problem with the door handle which cost us race-2. It was the first time for me at Silverstone and the track is really fantastic and above all we managed to be fast right from the start. On Friday we tried out some setups and gathered a lot of data which will be useful at Misano as well. I thank both Vita Postiglione and the Imperiale Team for the excellent job. I now await the next round to recover the points lost today,” commented Karol Basz.

“Luck certainly wasn’t on our side because after the win on Saturday we could have won race-2 as well. The episode at the change of drivers cost us 14”. We could have left Silverstone at the top of the ladder, whereas we are now 14 points behind. The race rhythm was really good as shown by Vito Postiglione’s comeback. We could have won with a nine second lead. We now await the test at Misano where in the Racing weekend we will try to win in both races. The championship is very competitive and you pay a heavy price for any error. However, even on a track as demanding as Silverstone Karol made no mistakes and he confirmed he is one of the protagonists of the Super Trofeo,” commented managers Giovanni Minardi and Alberto Tonti.

The next round is at the Misano Circuit, on June 22nd and 24th.

Karol Basz is part of the 2018 Lamborghini Young Drivers Program and is getting ready for Silverstone

Last year’s excellent debut in the Italian Gran Turismo Championship and, above all, Karol’s win at Monza in the opening round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europa at the wheel of the Imperiale Racing Team’s Huracán EVO, together with the positive weekend in the United States did not go unnoticed by the people from Sant’Agata Bolognese which included the Polish driver amongst the 20 participants of the next Young Drivers Program.

This is significant recognition for the driver followed by Minardi Management who is only at the beginning of his second season in the GT championships and who this weekend will fly to the historic Silverstone track for the second round of the single make competition in partnership with Vito Postiglione.

The Young Drivers Program organized by Lamborghini’s Racing Team had reached its fifth edition and its protagonists will be involved in specific training which provides tests, on track development with the Huracán Super Trofeo Evo and athletic training under the supervision of professionals in the sector, as well as lessons in theory and training on Lamborghini’s products and communication.

I feel honoured to be in the Lamborghini Junior Driving Program. The trust which the Italian brand gives me even more motivation and its support will allow me to achieve even better results. Already during in the next round we will do our best not to disappoint the expectations of the Lamborghini Group and all my fans and sponsors” commented a satisfied Karol Basz

We are very satisfied in this opportunity that Lamborghini gave Karol because it further enhances his talent. It will be a great chance to grow, but now we must concentrate on Silverstone which is a circuit that is as beautiful as it is demanding that Karol will discover only this weekend, even though he is doing a lot of work on the simulator, as well as continuing his athletic training. We are sure that with Vito Postiglione and the Imperiale Team that he will be able to fight it out for the top places,” commented managers Giovanni Minardi and Alberto Tonti

Karol Basz at Monza for his debut in the Super Trofeo Lamborghini

The Monza circuit will inaugurate Karol Basz’s new course in the European Super Trofeo Lamborghini Championship which this year will run its tenth season. The season of seven rounds, including the World Final al Vallelunga, will begin this week at Monza followed by Silverstone, Misano, Spa-Francorchamps, Nurburgring and Vallelunga.

The car is equipped with completely redesigned aerodynamics compared to last year’s model. This will be the first important appointment for Karol as he has not yet had the opportunity to test the powerful car from Sant’Agata Bolognese.

After his positive debut in GT cars in last year’s Italian Gran Turismo Championship – Super GT Cup in which he set pole position and three podium finishes, all with a Lamborghini Huracàn, Karol is called to take another important step forward in his Gran Turismo career.

“I am pleased to come back to racing and to make my debut in the Super Trofeo Lamborghini with Imperiale racing and with an expert driver such as Vito Postiglione. If in the next rounds I will also have learn the circuits, this weekend I will be able to concentrate only on the new “Lambo” as I already know Monza’s secrets”.

“A new season is beginning for Karol which is becoming a new step forward in his career towards professionalism. Last year he managed to amaze us by quickly setting pole position on debut and then with a number of podium finishes. Now he is called to an even more demanding challenge but he has his papers in order for a season at the highest levels,” commented managers Giovanni Minardi and Alberto Tonti.

The two rounds of 50’ each will start on Saturday 21st beginning at 3.10pm and Sunday 22nd at 12.20pm.

I expect that the season will not be easy since there will no time to organize tests before the debut at Monza and I will also have to learn some tracks such as Silverstone which I will study on the simulator, but I am ready,” commented the satisfied Polish driver followed by Minardi Management.

“We are very happy to have reached this agreement with Imperiale racing. Despite the fact that this is once again a debut, there are the foundations for doing well at Monza. Last year Karol surprised everyone by taking pole position on his debut. Reaching the Super Trofeo Europa represents another piece in his career,” commented managers Giovanni Minardi and Alberto Tonti.

A week after a solid performance on the Sarno track which was conditioned only by the penalty inflicted in the Final after the finish Andrea Kimi Antonelli came back to Naples’ International Circuit for the fourth and final round of the WSK Super Master Series.

It was not an easy weekend for Energy Corse’s young driver from Bologna who in any case closed the mini championship in third place overall in the 60 Mini category after filing away the final appointment in sixth place in the Final and fifth place in the Pre-Final.

“We’re sorry for how this Championship finished because in all the rounds Andrea showed that he deserved final victory. Despite an unfavourable weekend he continued to fight on the track without losing heart and we file away the WSK Super Master Series with third place in the ladder.
